30th Community Transit
今年是 Community Transit 30 歲的生日. 這裡並不是指 1991 年第一次波斯灣戰爭, 聯軍攻擊忙著從科威特撤回伊拉克軍隊的攻擊所造成的結果. 這個 Highway of Death 就在華盛頓州內. [img=images/us2_highway-of-death.jpg popup=false] 照片出處: MapQuest 位於 Snohomish County 介於 city of Snohomish 和 Stevens Pass 間的 US-2 是當地人稱呼為 Highway of Death. 由於人口的大量移入, 從 1999 年起到本週止, 這段公路已經有 34 件嚴重的交通車禍, 造成 41 人的死亡; 平均每 54 天一個重大車禍, 平均每 66 天死一個人, 其中有 12 件是車子面對面的對撞. 雖然州政府已經提撥一百三十萬美元, “研究”改善這段公路的方法. 不過報告要在 2007 年春才有結果. 再加上經費, 施工等等的因素. 我想還是要自己照顧自己吧! US-2 是從西雅圖前往, Stevens Pass 滑雪場, Leavenworth, Wenatchee (Chelan County) 等地的要道. 1. 如果有選擇, 儘量使用 I-90 轉 US-97. 2. 不要超速. 儘管是在空況的郊區, 這段道路沿線有不少只有速限 40 ~ 45 mph 的路段. 所以還是請不要超速. 3. 打開車前燈. 這樣可以讓其他的車輛容易的看到.
