四十歲後的皮膚

I truly believe everyone has a biological clock.  This clock is different between one another.

For me, the most obvious change is the skin.  I generally have little burn or small cut from things I do.  As far as I can remember, the skin never left scars.  For the past few years, I notice that scars stay and never fade away.  The skin does not heal as nice and fast as it used to be.

Serviio Media Server

I installed a Serviio media server at my home computer last night.  As far, it has been working very well.  I am able to watch contents from Samsung TV and mobile devices.  I think I may purchase a PRO version a week or two later if everything still works great.

Prior using Serviio media server, I had installed VLC media server on my computer.  Well, I don’t like the idea to have every content re-encoded to work on VLC.  It takes time and disk space.

The only downside of Serviio media server is it only works on Java version 6.  The latest Java is version 7 which will break the Serviio.   Therefore, don’t forget to disable Java’s auto update from windows Control Panel.

What I need now is to upgrade my home wireless network from G to N.  This should help streaming contents smoothly.

Little Akio

The teacher  said, “Let’s begin by reviewing some American History. Who said ‘Give me Liberty, or give me Death’?”

She saw a sea of blank faces, except for Little Akio, a bright foreign exchange student from Japan, who had his hand  up: “Patrick Henry, 1775,” he said.

“Very  good! — Who said, ‘Government of the People, by the People, for the People, shall not perish from the Earth’?”

Again, no response except from Little Akio: “Abraham Lincoln,  1863..”

“Excellent!” said the teacher continuing, “Let’s try one a bit more difficult — Who said, ‘Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country’?”

Once again, Akio’s was the only hand in the air and he said: “John F. Kennedy, 1961.”

The teacher snapped at the class, “Class, you should be ashamed of yourselves, Little Akio isn’t from this country and he knows more about our history than you do.”

She heard a loud whisper: “F_ _ k the Japs.”

“Who said that? — I want to know right now!? she angrily demanded..

Little Akio put his hand up, “General MacArthur, 1945.”

At that point, a student in the back said, “I’m gonna puke.’

The teacher glares around and asks, ‘All right! — Now who said that?”

Again, Little Akio says, “George Bush to the Japanese Prime Minister, 1991.”

Now furious, another student yells, “Oh yeah? — Suck  this!”

Little Akio jumps out of his chair waving his hand and shouts to the teacher, “Bill Clinton, to Monica Lewinsky, 1997!”

Now with almost mob hysteria someone said, “You little shit! — If you say anything else — I’ll kill you!”

Little Akio frantically yells at the top of his voice, “Michael Jackson to the children testifying against him, 2004.”

The teacher fainted. As the class gathered around the teacher on the floor, someone said, “Oh shit, We’re screwed!”

Little Akio said quietly, “The American people, November 6, 2012.”

——————————-

I would think this is an old joke that has been around since 2008.  The point of the joke is not about history, American education and little Akio but at the last sentence.

Best Wish To My Big Brother

I just found out that my big brother has pancreatic cancer.  The doctor announced that he may only have three months to life.  I called him, “big brother”, because he is the oldest among my generation in the family tree.  Frankly speaking, I do not know him every well.  He generally did not attend in the family gatherings.  He seems to have his own way.

A friend of mine passed away few months ago from liver cancer.  It seems that it is getting common to see cancer at younger ago.  What is the cause of the problem?  Forget about last century, do we actually live better even comparing with people as close as last generation?  With the advancement we have in medial technology, do we actually outlive our parents?  Something is wrong with what we eat and live.

Best wish to my bug brother.  With the odd and statistics, I do not wish that he may be able to overcome cancer but to live with dignity and happiness in rest of his life.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

We do not have turkey for Thanksgiving for years.  Since we eat turkey few times a month, even tough it is a whole bird on Thanksgiving day, kids do not seem special.  Additionally, without families around the area, we often had to eat leftover turkey for days.

Few years back, we had switched to do it yourself sushi for Thanksgiving.  This is truly a  special occasion since we only eat like this once or twice a year.  We had invited few families over the years.  Everyone love and enjoy it.

It is not difficult to prepare do it yourself sushi.  We mostly go either H-Mart or Uwajimaya for ingredients, such as raw fishes and roes, veggies and sauce.  Most important of all, it does not matter what kind of food you put in there as long as it is what you love to eat.  We have tried to put chicken, turkey and beef.  It is all delicious.

If you do not know how to prepare sushi rice and even lazy to use sushi seasoning mix, there is no problem at all.  For the past two or three years, there is a new kinds of roasted seaweeds mostly from Korea.  It has a light salted taste that is great to roll with food.

Once everything is on the dining table, everyone can mix any styles of food they like.  Who say sushi has to be rolled?  It is fun and entertaining for the whole family and guests.

Feeling Old

Few years back, I can easily workout without any problem next day after a blood donation.  Well, it is not as easy as I used to.  People say body really starts downhill after 40.  I can surely feel it.

I can still feel the effect of blood donation four days later.  These days, it takes about a week to feel normal.  It is not difficult for me to admit getting old.  In fact, I enjoy growing old.  Sometimes, it is the feeling of sadness that life is never coming back.

Two Hours And Falf (One Way) To Work

It took me two hours and half to work this morning.  Generally, I would go workout first.  However the laundry machine at YMCA is out of order thus unable to provide towels.  I thought that I might be able to workout at work.  Unfortunately, the bad weather caused a huge backup on highway.  it was already 9:40am when I arrived at work.

This is the reason why I always prefer to workout first before going go work.
